Best route to follow

For a decent 10 km hike we suggest starting from Thomson Park and walking towards Upper Pierce and back to Thomson Park. You can catch a glimpse of the route suggested by us in the map given below (under “Route we followed”).

Best spot to relax (tea/snacks):

1. Benches along the reservoir serve as a perfect spot for sipping on some tea and munching on your favorite snacks.

2. Grass lawns have proven to be the perfect place to relax and take in fresh crisp air while enjoying beverages. Make sure to carry mats so you can comfortably relax by placing them on the lawn.

3. By the side of the reservoir, making the white stones and pebbles your seat while enjoying the scenic views of the crystal-clear waters of the reservoir.

A good place for cycling and jogging. A peaceful place to hold family gatherings and take in the fresh air. You will have a spectacular view of Upper and Lower Peirce merged together. Visit this place to put your mind at ease and heart at peace.

Other Special Info -

The Upper Peirce Reservoir, together with the MacRitchie Reservoir, the Lower Peirce Reservoir and the Upper Seletar Reservoir, together form the Central Catchment Nature Reserve. The nature reserve acts as a water catchment for the reservoirs in the area.

In the late 1960s, increasing demand for water led the government to examine the feasibility of increasing the capacity of the Peirce Reservoir. A higher dam was then constructed upstream of the existing dam in 1970. The Upper Peirce Reservoir was completed in 1975 and officially opened by then Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew on 27 February 1977.
